Science Conservation Centre for Art, Chulalongkorn University (SCICCA)

SCICCA is committed to advancing knowledge in art conservation. More than just a facility equipped with cutting-edge scientific tools and offering analytical services for artworks and cultural artifacts, SCICCA acts as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, training, and knowledge sharing. In addition to our conservation and analytical services, our mission encompasses offering educational opportunities, including workshops, seminars, and specialized training, for professionals in the art and conservation fields. By establishing robust networks and encouraging cross-sector cooperation, we strive to elevate conservation practices in Thailand to align with international standards.

Central to our efforts is a profound respect and affection for cultural heritage. We consistently recognize that conservation extends beyond technical aspects—it is a duty to safeguard the legacy of previous generations and ensure its preservation for future ones. We believe this knowledge should not be confined to scientists, conservators, or academics alone. It should be disseminated to the broader society to cultivate awareness, understanding, and, most importantly, appreciation for the cultural treasures that shape our nation's identity.

เรามุ่งมั่นในการพัฒนาและเผยแพร่องค์ความรู้ด้านการอนุรักษ์ศิลปกรรม โดยไม่เพียงเป็นศูนย์อนุรักษ์ที่มีเครื่องมือวิเคราะห์ทางวิทยาศาสตร์อันทันสมัย และการให้บริการตรวจสอบวัตถุทางศิลปะเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับการบูรณาการความรู้ข้ามสาขา การฝึกอบรม และการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ระหว่างผู้เชี่ยวชาญ

นอกเหนือจากการให้บริการด้านการอนุรักษ์และการวิเคราะห์ ภารกิจสำคัญอีกด้านหนึ่งของเราคือการจัดกิจกรรมทางวิชาการ การอบรม สัมมนา และหลักสูตรเฉพาะทาง เพื่อเสริมสร้างศักยภาพให้กับผู้ปฏิบัติงานในสายวิชาชีพด้านศิลปะและการอนุรักษ์  เรามุ่งสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือที่แข็งแกร่ง และส่งเสริมการทำงานร่วมกันระหว่างภาคส่วนต่าง ๆ เพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานการอนุรักษ์ในประเทศไทยให้ทัดเทียมมาตรฐานสากล

หัวใจของการอนุรักษ์คือความเคารพ และความรักในมรดกทางวัฒนธรรม เราตระหนักดีว่างานอนุรักษ์มิใช่เป็นเรื่องของเทคนิคหรือกระบวนการทางวิทยาศาสตร์เท่านั้น แต่คือความรับผิดชอบต่ออดีตที่เราต้องดูแลรักษาไว้ เพื่อนำส่งต่อให้กับคนรุ่นหลัง เราเชื่อว่าองค์ความรู้ด้านการอนุรักษ์ไม่ควรถูกจำกัดไว้เพียงในหมู่นักอนุรักษ์ นักวิทยาศาสตร์หรือแวดวงวิชาการ แต่ควรได้รับการสื่อสารไปยังสังคมในวงกว้าง เพื่อสร้างความเข้าใจ และที่สำคัญที่สุด คือการปลูกฝังให้เกิดความตระหนักและเห็นคุณค่าในสมบัติทางศิลปวัฒนธรรมของชาติอย่างแท้จริง
